Juniperus chinensis – “Argentina”

This is a story about Juniperus from my friend’s garden. Andrej spent his childhood in Barlioche, Argentina. So I named this tree Argentina …

I saw this tree for the first time last spring (2008) at the workshop in Izola. Andrej asked me if we could work on it together. So we turn the tree and lean it a little, and after first styling we were satisfied. But after a close inspection it was obvious that solution with the top isn’t right. Brunch which was turned into top was to thin and was growing unnaturally from the trunk. We needed second styling.

We decided that we’ll worked at first this year club’s workshop in Nova Gorica. A few days before we worked on shari and jins. We then wired it in Nova Gorica. But we worked under time pressure and finally we run out of time:

After a few days we finished it peacefully. The result is completely different tree with fare more convincing and natural top. With some pinching it could be a great bonsai in a year! In one growing season only Juniperus did come a long way in development. Now, Andrej must pick up a right pot and then he could already put it on exhibition. To me working on that tree meant a great enjoyment and satisfaction!
